Protect Lake Sunapee

What's New

On Tuesday, October 23rd, the New London Planning Board passed landmark regulations for subdivisions that will significantly help protect Lake Sunapee from stormwater runoff pollution. Thank you for all your support!

With New London’s regulations in place, now it’s time for the towns of Newbury and Sunapee, and eventually the rest of the state, to follow suit. Lake Sunapee is just one of  New Hampshire's lakes that is beginning to feel the effects of increasing development and stormwater runoff. Runoff pollution is becoming a serious problem for many of New Hampshire’s lakes and New London’s regulations should serve as an example for the rest of the state to follow.

Background

No waterway should be left vulnerable to the effects of encroaching development and runoff pollution.  Our lakes, rivers, estuaries, and streams play a vitally important role in New Hampshire’s natural heritage and are highly valued by both New Hampshire residents and visitors alike.  Environment New Hampshire is working to ensure that our waterways are protected from stormwater runoff and that they remain beautiful and healthy for generations to come.
