Clean energy, bright future
In January, Environment New Hampshire’s Piper Crowell released a new report, “Clean Energy, Bright Future,” at the LEED-certified Portsmouth library. According to our analysis, America can reduce global warming emissions by about 10 percent annually, replace the power equivalent of 170 coal-fired power plants, and create or sustain more than 3 million jobs by investing in clean energy and public transportation.
Every part of the country can benefit from investments in clean energy. In New Hampshire, our existing wind projects produce 1.4 megawatts of power. And the American Wind Energy Association has shown that New Hampshire has the potential to produce 502 megawatts of power from wind energy.
Crowell was joined by Steve Marchand, the former mayor of Portsmouth, and Peter Britz, the environmental planner for Portsmouth, for the release of the report.
