Preserving Lake Sunapee
Across New Hampshire, development is threatening the quality and aesthetic beauty of our lakes. At Lake Sunapee, increasing development brings a wide range of contaminants and harmful nutrients into the lake. Environment New Hampshire worked with the town of New London, which borders Lake Sunapee, to help pass landmark regulations to ensure that new development creates zero new stormwater runoff into the lake.
Now, Environment New Hampshire is working to make sure that New London’s initiative to protect Lake Sunapee from stormwater pollution serves as an example that the rest of the state can follow. We will work to build momentum for similar regulations at the state level to help protect all of New Hampshire’s lakes from stormwater runoff and guarantee that they remain beautiful and healthy for generations to come.

Our work with the town of New London provides a blueprint for curbing runoff pollution in the state's lakes.
