Program

Protect the White Mountains

The White Mountains represent the best of New Hampshire’s natural heritage. From hiking along the Appalachian Trail to taking in the breathtaking views, White Mountain National Forest is an outdoor escape for Granite Staters. But the protection of the Mountains and access to their beautiful trails is at risk.

Program

Protect New Hampshire's Lakes

Short-sighted legal decisions have left more than half of New Hampshire’s streams vulnerable to pollution and development — including the ones that feed our lakes. Now, polluters’ allies in Congress are trying to block the EPA from restoring vital safeguards. To protect our lakes, we need to show massive public support for clean water.

Program

Go Solar New Hampshire

We can tap the virtually limitless energy from the sun to heat and power our homes, businesses, and schools. Solar power will create jobs here in New Hampshire and keep energy dollars in our local economy—while reducing fossil fuel emissions that pollute our air and contribute to global warming. Our staff and members are working to push New Hampshire officials to put us on a path to 10,000 solar rooftops by 2020 and 50,000 by 2030.

Program

Global Warming Solutions

If we want to spare our children and grandchildren the worst consequences of global warming, we must dramatically reduce the carbon pollution that we pump into the atmosphere. And, as most scientists agree, we better do it soon. We need Washington to do much more, but we also need to build on our successes at the state and local level.

Program

Get Off Oil

The environmental costs of our oil dependence are out of control — from the accidents and spills, to smog, to climate change. It's time to set this country on a path to getting off oil for good. We can get there by convincing our leaders to make new investments in fuel-efficient cars, energy efficiency, and a first-class system of public transportation.

Program

Defend New Hampshire's Cornerstone Clean Energy Program

Big utility companies want to repeal New Hampshire’s cornerstone clean energy program. We can show our legislators that a vote against clean energy is a vote against New Hampshire.

Program

Conservation New Hampshire

We must commit to the conservation of New Hampshire’s natural treasures, like the White Mountains. But the state’s largest electric utility company, PSNH, wants to build a massive power line that would cut through White Mountain National Forest. This line, consisting of 1,100 enormous electrical towers, would scar the best of New Hampshire’s wilderness.
